Digital signatures are used to prevent modification of signed calibration records. Unlike electronic signatures, which can be modified on the database level, digital signatures encrypt the data in a way that prevents tampering of the record’s information. By default, signed records include the signatory’s name and the date/time it was signed.

If you are an account administrator and would like to set up digital signatures, please refer to our article on “Setting Up Digital Signatures”.

Viewing Signature History

Signature history displays a log of all sign and unsign activities that occurred on the calibration record.

  1. Navigate to the calibration record you would like to check.
  2. Scroll down to the Signature History section of the record.
  3. Click the [+] button to expand the view.

Verifying Signatures

To verify that the calibration record has been correctly signed, ensure the record is no longer editable and the digital signature is present in the Review and Approval section. In addition, a banner indicating the signature status may be available at the top of the record depending on your account settings.

To verify the generated certificate is correctly signed, check the contents of the document using a PDF viewer. The Review and Approval section should display the digital signature in the format specified in the account’s settings. The certificate would also include some indication that the PDF document itself is signed. The method this is displayed depends on the PDF viewer used.
